Agriculture exports from Pakistan surpass $8 billion in history: Jam Kamal
The Minister stressed the value of the Sectoral Councils for Rice and Dairy and its Products’ contribution to the country’s economy during a virtual meeting with them.
He declared that increasing export volumes is our aim and that we will take every appropriate action to achieve it.
The minister expressed the government’s belief that the industry can maintain its growth trajectory by urging the council to aim for a five billion dollar target for the upcoming year.
The minister acknowledged Pakistan’s dominant position in the rice market in the Gulf and Europe, but stressed the necessity of concentrating on making pesticide-free products in order to keep this advantage.
According to earlier reports, during the fiscal year that concluded on June 30, 2024, over 1.126 million metric tons of vegetables valued at $430.055 million were exported. This is in contrast to the 1.336 million metric tons worth $300 million exported during the same period the previous year.
Based on data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country’s vegetable exports increased by 43.20 percent between July and June of 2024 compared to the same time the previous year.
