PTI founder cleared in lawsuits on May 9
Judicial Magistrate Omar Shahab declared the decision on two May 9 charges filed at Shahzad Town Police Station during the hearing of bail requests in the District and Sessions Court, according to the specifics.
There was not enough proof in any case, thus the court cleared the PTI founder. The bail plea arguments have been concluded by Imran Khan’s attorneys, Mirza Asim Beg and Naeem Panjotha.
According to the attorney, the PTI founder was accused under Section 109 of the FIR, which was filed by an unauthorized individual, but no supporting documentation was provided.
In the May 9 violence cases, former prime minister Imran Khan had earlier filed a petition asking for an acquittal.
When Naeem Panjutha, the PTI founder’s attorney, came in court, he submitted a request that Imran Khan be found not guilty.
The PTI founder’s caseload was questioned by Judicial Magistrate Sohaib Bilal, who also wanted to know if Khan’s complaint was kept on file.
In addition to the penalties in the cipher case and illegal marriage case being outstanding, Naeem Panjutha informed the court that Imran Khan’s Tosha Khanna sentence had been deferred.
Violence on May 9th
Following former prime minister Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9, 2023, violent conflicts broke out throughout Pakistan.
With Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad calling in the armed forces to maintain peace and order, the party workers, incensed over their chairman’s imprisonment, staged rallies in both big cities and remote areas.
PTI employees have attacked Army facilities during the rallies, including the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore.
The PTI founder is included as the primary culprit in all of the cases pertaining to the May 9 riots, which is important to note.
