Regarding the Toshakhana case, Khawar Maneka responds to Bushra Bibi’s prison term
Following the Toshakhana case ruling, Bushra Bibi Khawar Maneka’s ex-husband decided on Wednesday to keep quiet about the legal consequences his former wife was facing.
Prior to this, the accountability court sentenced former prime minister Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison, a heavy fine, and a 10-year ban from holding public office.
Remaining silent for the previous five years, Khawar Maneka emerged from the Islamabad High Court following the reserved ruling in the Iddat Nikah case between Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
When asked about Bushra Bibi’s sentencing in the Tosha Khana case by a barrage of journalists, he said, “I have left my matter to Allah.”
Speaking to the media, Khawar Maneka said that he was unaffected by the court case, saying, “I have nothing to do with whether the sentence is carried out or not. After all these years, nobody still asks what she did to me, even though she has been with me for 28 years. For five years, I have not spoken, but I have given my cause to Allah.”
Khawar Maneka stressed that he is not involved in the Tosha Khana case and is therefore unable to comment on the propriety of Bushra Bibi’s sentencing when asked about his opinions. He said, “I do not speak against anyone; the law itself is determining these things.”
“After 28 years, she left me and the children,” Khawar Maneka said, emphasising the personal impact on his life and the absence of queries about his children’s condition. Why don’t others question me about my children’s futures?”
When asked about the status of the ongoing Iddat Nikah case, Khawar Maneka said, “I am leaving it to Allah, but I don’t know whether justice will be served or not.”
