The murder case of PTI leader Dr. Shahid takes a new turn.
According to information, Qayyum, the son of Dr. Shahid, has been detained by the Organised Crime Unit (OCU) in Iqbal Town in relation to the death of his father.
Qayyum is thought to have hired a shooter to kill his father, according to the police, who said he was arrested based on strong evidence. The complaint of Dr. Shahid’s second son led to the registration of the case.
Qayyum and his uncle Sajid were present when Dr. Shahid was shot and killed in his automobile, according to the FIR.
The PTI founder was shot and killed on August 2 in front of a mosque in Lahore.
Details of a claimed target killing event in Lahore state that some unknown people arrived in a car and shot and killed founding member Dr. Shahid Siddique of PTI and owner of a private hospital after Friday prayer.
After Shahid Siddiqui was killed, the unidentified accused managed to escape the scene, according to the police spokesperson, but the PTI leader was targeted outside Khizra Mosque in Valencia Town shortly after Friday prayers.
According to officials, Dr. Siddiqui was shot four times and passed away while being taken to the closest hospital. His son and driver were also with him at the time of the attack, but they were unharmed.
The accused should be arrested right away, according to Punjab Police spokesperson Dr. Usman Anwar, the IG of Punjab, who has ordered the police to gather evidence from the scene and begin an inquiry into the case.
