Supreme Court reinstates NAB modifications

The Supreme Court’s five-member bench reserved the decision on June 6.

The bench, which was led by Justice Qazi Faez Isa and included Justice Athar Minallah in his note, rendered the decision by a majority of 5-0.

In a succinct ruling, the SC said that more information about the ruling will be released later.

The NAB amendments’ ruling of unconstitutionality was challenged intrajudicially by the federal and provincial governments. On June 6th, the Supreme Court postponed rendering a decision regarding the federal government’s appeal.

It is important to note that the PTI founder’s plea resulted in the supreme court overturning changes made to NAB laws.

The appeal of former prime minister Imran Khan, which challenged changes to the nation’s accountability legislation imposed by the previous government led by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), was granted by the top court in a majority 2-1 decision.

Additionally, after the NAB laws were amended, the top court revived graft charges against public office holders.
